How Does The Vibrational Frequency of Red Roses Heal?

Albert Einstein taught us through E = mc 2 that all things in life emit vibrational frequencies and that all things are simply energy in different vibrational forms. Basically, this means every cell that makes up you is energy as well as all colors on the spectrum wheel, therefore the energy of colors can affect your energy. It’s really that simple! Color Therapy uses color to assist the body in using its natural healing ability to balance itself. Color supports our vital life force by supplying light frequencies to our vibrational energetic system. In ancient times Egyptians built rooms that reflected the sun’s energy with different colors of glass because they understood that color affects people in different ways.

Our eyes can change light into electricity, which travels to our central nervous system and directs all body function. Each specific color frequency gets attracted to the area of our body that recognizes that specific vibrational frequency. In turn this can cause hormonal and cellular changes to occur in our electrical system, thereby bringing the body into balance with that specific color.

All seven colors on the spectrum make up white light, but if you separate them out, each color has its own specific vibration. Colors on the spectrum vibrate at different speeds, with red vibrating the slowest and purple vibrating the fastest. Red’s slower vibration is just above heat and has the ability to stimulate our bodies physically.

The specific areas of the body related to the color red are the base of the spine, the adrenal glands, kidneys and bladder, colon, spinal column, legs, and our vital force: the blood. Red represents iron, the substance in our veins that turns our blood red. It’s also associated with the fiery planet Mars–ruler of war, passion, and lust. Red is related to our physical bodies, our ability to self-preserve, survival instincts, primal needs, feeling grounded and secure, basic instincts, physical activity and being courageous. It is also connected to the feeling of “having” things. Essentially all things related to the first chakra energy level or all things associated with the lower body region.

Dr. Robert O. Becker, in his book, “Body Electric” states that the human body has a measurable electrical frequency and the state of health in a human can be measured by his overall vibrational frequency. Generally, a healthy body will resonate between 62-78 hz. Our body’s energy can be affected by thoughts, other people, environment, even toxic-laden food. It may interest you to know on the eve of Valentine’s Day, that the red rose has the highest vibrational frequency known among all flowers, resonating at a whopping 320 hz! No wonder we use it to woo our loved ones on that special day. Doesn’t that make sense? Have you ever suddenly had your breath taken away by a gorgeous, resonating bouquet of red roses (especially if they were for you!)? Think of what you do when given a red rose. Most people snuggle their nose into the rose to breathe in the scent and vibration. It’s as if somehow we intrinsically know the power of the color red and the beautiful geometry of rose mixed together will bring us to a higher state of consciousness. Who doesn’t want to reach Nirvana in a breath of a second? Outside of smelling roses, inhaling rose essential oils or placing one drop of it on the bottom of your feet or chest on the heart point will also raise your vibration. Studies show essential oils placed on the skin enter the body within 6-21 minutes. Voila, easy vibration fix!

5 Easy Steps to Shed Post-Holiday Weight & Toxins

The holiday season fun is almost over and it’s back to reality… but are you already facing reality when trying to stuff your thighs and belly into your jeans post-holiday? Ouchy!! How do you reel it back in when you have spent a month chanting the mantra, “Chocolate and Wine, Chocolate and Wine”?! and eating all those extra, decadent goodies because “it’s the holidays”? Many patients ask for my help to get things back in control and really there isn’t just one way to do it. Here are my recommended 5 easy steps that can get you back on the right track and none require you take a painful step on a scale! Whew to that one! In fact, I would avoid the scale. For most people a scale is not a motivator, it’s a deflator, so avoid the hard cold numbers for now because they can be misleading.

  1. Start flushing those toxins with LOTS of water. Typical water dosing is drinking half your body weight in ounces. Example, you weigh 150 lbs. drink 75 ounces of water a day. This will seriously begin to reduce the bloat and jump start the release of toxins from your liver, kidney and lymphatics as well as quench your cravings for sugary and starchy food. Besides with 75 ounces of water in your belly who has room for food!! Add some lemon for an extra benefit of increased metabolism, and decreasing acidity in your body.
  2. Ditch the alcohol! Ok …Slowly put the egg nog and bourbon down and step away…. When I said back to reality I meant it! Replace your cravings for these sugary mind vacation treats with a green smoothie and a scoop of protein. Use as a snack or a meal replacement. Next time you crave alcohol, make a smoothie. Never mind that the sugary and fat-laden mixers are calorie loaded but alcohol itself is 7 calories/gram (compared to 9 calories for fat and 4 calories for protein) and it’s liquid so those grams go down super-fast!
  3. Reduce calories. Keep the calorie count between 1,100 and 1,200 per day for fastest weight loss. A quick calculation to find calories needed to “maintain” your weight would be to take your weight in lbs. and multiply it by 10. Ex. 150 lbs. X 10 = 1,500 calories. This is the amount of calories you need to eat per day to maintain your current weight. If you want to lose you must go below this. Having a degree in nutrition, I have many tedious calorie calculations I could give you but why bother, the calories generally come out the same anyway. Now if you add exercise to the mix you may be able to lose weight even quicker!
  4. Get moving. Any motion is good but I would advise to get walking at least 4 x’s/week. If time is an issue you can break it up. Take 30 minutes and break it up into two 15 minute walks. Use the stairs in the office, park the car in the furthest space to maximize your walking time, get up early in the morning and walk before the onslaught of morning commuters, use your lunch time for a brisk walk rather than a hefty meal. Get the point? If it’s cold outside, even better! Don’t use that as an excuse! Many studies have shown cold weather to increase metabolism, so don’t let temperature detour your exercise and weight loss.
  5. Ditch the grains and replace with veggies! Yes, the grains and I mean all of them, wheat, corn, rice, potatoes, pasta…. Relying on veggies as your main source of carbohydrates and low-glycemic fruits (apples, berries, kiwi, grapefruit) in the morning will help break a weight-loss plateau and sugar cravings. Be sure to have at least one large salad as a meal per day. I don’t care if you make the salad your breakfast, lunch or dinner just have one! Be sure to make your last meal of the day a good piece of organic meat or protein and just veggies. Nix any carbs at all for your last daily meal and be sure you eat it at least two hours before lights out!

Wheat Today, Immunity Gone Tomorrow!

Sick and tired of trying to figure out just what is wrong with your digestion? It may have something to do with gluten intolerance. If you eat “regular” bread and pasta, you may wonder how something so wonderful and fluffy, that tastes great with burgers and awesome as spaghetti, got such a bad wrap. I find that most patients, whether they have an official diagnosis of celiac disease or not, do not do well with the modern, over hybridized, repeated backcrossing, and chemically mutated wheat. Something many people don’t realize is that genetically modified wheat is not approved for sale in the U.S. But what is approved contains a hybridized wheat and therein lies the problem. Genetic modification refers to using genetic splicing to put in or take out a gene or a partial gene of a food. They do not do that to wheat yet; they save that for ALL the other food we unknowingly eat!! Not to worry though, research is currently working on that to create pesticide resistant strains. Yummy to my tummy. NOT! Some actually believe hybridization is even worse than genetic modification if you can imagine that.

Hybridization occurs when you cross different plant strains to create smaller, dwarf plants because the original plant contained stalks taller than the roots of the plant causing “lodging”. This is where the plant falls over due to it’s height and now rot situations take over the plant. In addition, with the smaller hybridized dwarf plants extra nitrogen can be sprayed on the plant and the weight will not cause the plant to lodge. The dwarf varieties allow more of the plants energy to be focused on the seeds resulting in a higher yield production. The problem with this becomes when new proteins are created in the offspring that are not contained in either parent plant. At least 5% of proteins generated have never been seen by our guts!

Another form of wheat manipulation is something called “backcrossing” or repetitive winnowing with different grass species to get rid of the undesirable characteristics, such as being too tall and reduced seed production. Backcrossing has drastically increased production of the hybridized dwarf plant and increased gluten levels in the plant which gives the wheat product a new and improved larger and fluffier appearance. Although this was good for the bottom line of these companies ultimately this has run havoc on the American people’s  digestive systems. This is unfortunately what research HAS NOT looked into. Don’t you think this should have been the FIRST thing they considered and not their bottom line?

There are also chemical abuses to the wheat source as well. Exposing the wheat embryo and seeds to a chemical called sodium azide, as well as to gamma and x-ray radiation, the embryo and seeds mutate. According to Dr. William Davis, M.D. from the Wheat Belly Blog, “Sodium azide is highly toxic to animals, bacteria, and humans, with human ingestion of small quantities yielding effects similar to cyanide. With accidental ingestion, for instance, the CDC recommends not performing CPR on the victim (and just letting the victim die), since it may cause the CPR-provider to be exposed, nor to dispose of any vomitus into a sink, since it can cause an explosion. (This has actually happened.)”

This is how the well known herbicide-resistant wheat species called Clearfield Wheat came into existence from the chemical company called BASF. This is called Chemical Mutagenesis although in my opinion it should be called Human Genocide. Our animal digestive system struggles so much to handle the chemicals and manipulation to our nutritional sources but even our miraculous bodies at some point give in to the onslaught of the abuse. This is why so many young and old are sick now with cancers, auto immune disease, fatigue and depression.

In short, research is turning our food industry into a modern day sci-fi horror movie by manipulating food DNA, protein, and chemistry with Frankenstein laboratory techniques, dangerous chemicals, and harmful radiation.  What it hasn’t learned though is how to heal the devastating effects it has on mother nature, our digestive system and our immunities. It’s hard to predict just how our guts will react to this “new food”. Guess they won’t look at that until we all start turning into real-life Zombies and storming the F.D.A in Washington! I am hopeful that’s not in our future. Please consider that food certainly is a drug and does affect you every bit as a prescription medication. I just wish our government would soon recognize our wealth is in our health and not in their bank accounts, our lives depend on it!

Using Essential Oils to Heal

What’s all the craze lately about Essential Oils or (E.O.) you might be asking yourself?

Well if you haven’t heard by now, there are literally HUNDREDS of different applications for them. Essential oils are the aromatic liquids found within shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, resins, and seeds. Some people like to call essential oils “nature’s living energy” because they contain unique constituents that provide a host of benefits.

Most essential oils are extracted from plant sources using steam distillation and are highly concentrated, making them far more potent than dried botanicals.  Essential Oils are not perfumes, although they can be used like them to achieve a desired smell or response in the body. Pure E.O.’s contain no artificial, processed or synthetic chemicals. Since everything we put on the skin is absorbed by capillaries that circulate in the body, you want to be sure the E.O. you are using is free of pesticides, synthetic constituents, chemicals and any other unwanted adulterated product. There are some researchers that report essential oils are better absorbed from areas of the body with greater concentrations of sweat glands and hair follicles, such as the head, feet, hands and armpits (Battaglia, 2003). Personally, I like the application to the hands and especially the feet. It is very effective and feels great.

Two great ways to use the oils is to diffuse them into the air or apply them to your body. Diffusing oils work because when you inhale the oils the active ingredients go directly to the limbic system (area of the brain responsible for emotion) which is responsible for memory, hormones, blood pressure, breath rate, and stress levels. This explains why smell triggers physiological and psychological responses in people. Some people like to dilute the oils in a carrier oil because people can have different reaction to the “neat” or undiluted oil itself. While many people are able to use the neat version of the oil, there are still sensitive individuals such as children and animals that you definitely should dilute the oil before application.

A carrier oil is a vegetable oil such as coconut oil or grapeseed oil that can be used to dilute EO. Carrier oils ensure that EOs applied topically do not cause any irritation to the skin. Don’t worry, dilution with a carrier oil will not dilute the effect of the EO and it helps prevents any waste due to excessive application. Please do not use vegetable shortening, butter, margarine or any petroleum derivatives (e.g. baby oil or mineral oil)–they should never be used as carrier oils. Some users choose to avoid olive oil as a carrier oil because of it has a strong smell. My favorites are coconut oil for its anti-inflammatory effects and jojoba oil for its skin softening properties. Below is a chart for recommendations on how to dilute.

I generally recommend 2%-5% dilution for most people.

Day 1 Fall Group 21-Day Cleanse

I actually got up this morning feeling very motivated for the beginning of this year’s Fall Cleanse to start. I am sure I have been wining and dining a little too much with my annual “I’m sad summer is ending party” this past month. Not to mention it was a birthday month for me and everyone knows you must celebrate the entire month long for it to mean anything, because after a while you just begin to get numb to the idea of ANOTHER birthday!!

Well time to pay back…to my health that is. Something everyone should do to keep the balance of good health. You know, live a little, pay a little. Sometimes it’s live a lot and pay a lot and now is one of those times. So for the next 21 days I will remove all gluten, soy, dairy, red meat, corn, sugar, caffeine, alcohol and fun from my diet!

On page 7 in the “Before you begin” section of the Seleme Health Cleanse Manual it suggests to reflect on your life and important people in it and why do you need the cleanse, what does it mean to your body mind and spirit? I feel it’s important to understand that people can be just as toxic as food. The energy of negative or emotional vampires can be just as detrimental to your health and well being as what you eat. As I made my list this Fall season I found it was very different from the Spring list. The falling leaves and the cold quickly approaching has given my energy now a different feel. I am feeling all the inward self-reflection and wanting to cultivate my body and mind . The Lungs are associated with the Fall season and they are connected with “letting go” of things that no longer serve you, people, ideas, memories, so that you can go inward and heal and bring new energy once more in the Springtime.

My list has more spiritual aspirations this time around, in that I’m wanting to understand the ways and whys of the energetic universe. Probably thoughts all humans ponder at some point in their life. I want to know the connections in all things related to the cosmic forces and my life force. The meaning in plants, animals and the sky around us. I’ll be honest and say I also want to understand the “why” in why some people act the way they do but again my frame of mind now is to know there is a reason for everything and that is which I seek to understand this time around. As for my list of toxic people, rather than sending them away this time, I release anger and resentment and send them energetically, light filled with hope, laughter, love and healing. Words I have lived my life by.

It’s only the morning of Day 1 and already I am feeling better emotionally. Ask me again in 5 days how I am feeling after no sugar, caffeine, meat or wine and I may be a drooling, desperate fire breathing dragon but for now I am a happy camper!  I started the morning with a detox protein shake and cup of bone broth. Next I made grain free pancakes with eggs, almond butter and bananas and washed it down with a cup of dandelion tea. Mmm, mmm good! Need to get ready to give a lecture on “Face Diagnosis and Detoxification” at the Illuminate Frederick Mind-Body-Spirit Festival this afternoon. Can’t think of a more appropriate way to begin this 21-Day jouney! Bring on the healing!
